This book is phenomenal. I feel like I learned more psychological theory in its 280 pages than a handful of psych college classes combined. Cialdini doesn't stop at just theory, expanding the scope of the principles he case-studies to everyday encounters and extraordinary events:

  • The role of Social Proof and Authority in consumer behavior, witnesses of car crashes, even of murders
  • How tendencies of Reciprocity affect buying and selling cars
  • Commitment and Consistency used to wage psychological war on POWs during the Korean War to great effect

I walked away from this book knowing A. I needed to pre-order Pre-suasion, Cialdini's newly released follow-up book, and B. with a sense of 'how did I get through yesterday without knowing this stuff?' {JG}
